We had the Pink Jewellery Box Afternoon Tea Set 1890 PHP ++ Which is good for 4 persons and surprisingly includes only 1 Cup of Tea, but served in a Teapot. Given a menu to select the tea that's included in the set, I choose the Chinese Oolong Tea 245 PHP ++ A la carte price which is the most expensive among the list.

Service was accomodating as expected from Shangri-la Hotels, but it took us awhile to get their attention to which most people might describe it as slow. The afternoon tea time at Makati Shangri-la is an experience more than for dining. The Pink Jewellery box is where the delicious sweet treats reside and is one of those gimmicks that screams pictorial. The high heel shaped milk chocolates that are coloured cutely are sweet and thick in flavour. The scones are more like muffins and is too brittle for my taste. The sandwiches are what I like about this set well-made and savoury. I still personally prefer the Writers Bar at Raffles Hotel only because I find their environment more intimate and refined.
The Ambiance is why we decided to join the afternoon tea and the Lobby Lounge does it with grandeur. I used to come here regularly when I was little around 10 years ago and things are mostly the same. The carpet, chairs and interior are familiar to me and are starting to age, which I'm sure they are waiting to renovate the place, right after Shangri-la at the Fort opens this November 2015.

If you are looking for a grand place that includes a "musical experience" go for Shangri-La.
If you are looking for a relaxing and intimate environment that's refined go for Raffles.
